The standards and labeling of the Bureau today encompasses 18 appliances, including 4 for which it is mandatory – refrigerators, air-conditioners, tubelights, and distribution transformers. The other appliances include: pumps, motors, television sets, geysers, office equipment, etc. During the past 200 days, labels have been introduced for diesel pump sets, diesel gensets, LPG stoves, and for hospital buildings. Labels for the 3 petroleum products were done in collaboration with Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas and launched by the Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas and the PCRA (Petroleum Conservation Research Association).

The labeling standards for refrigerators and air-conditioners have been made more stringent in 2012 and 2014. The estimated savings from these labeling programmes have been about 12000 MW since 2007.
